Include a meaningful quote or lines from a poem
Wedding invitations may not have enough extra room for an entire sonnet or the lyrics to your favorite song. But it certainly isn’t a problem to include a few lines from that sonnet, or perhaps a quote that holds special meaning for you and your fiancé. This allows you to share your thoughts about the love your wedding is meant to celebrate and show your personality. You could then provide the entire poem or song on table cards at the wedding, if you wish.
Convey your wedding style
The invitation is a perfect place to give your guests a glimpse of what to expect at your wedding. If it’s going to be a black-tie evening affair, use formal, traditional language. But if you want to let your guests know that it’s going to be a laid-back wedding, then choose a non-traditional approach: For a casual weekend wedding in Las Vegas, you could perhaps write “What happens in Vegas….Stays in our hearts.” Keep it short and simple, but let the tone give a hint of what’s to come.
Choose the perfect font
Now I know that choosing a font doesn’t actually have to do with the wording of your invitation. But it’s one of the most important ways to make it personal – and it really does affect people’s perception of the words! The two lines may say the exact same thing, but they read very differently in a person’s mind, simply because of the way they look. Choose a font that suits you and your fiancé! |
